The annual green IT Conference of UBA, the German Federal Environment Agency was held in Hannover, Germany, on 3rd March 2010. This year's conference  focused on "Green IT – Future trends in applications" and will brought together key players and experts from reputed IT companies, research institutes and public authorities.
 
Green IT solutions will only achieve their full potential if technology offers a holistic and integrated approach to today’s challenges. Immediate action is demanded, involving inter-disciplinary research, cross-sectional collaboration, and social awareness. UBA’s Green IT Conference addressed the following topics:
 
Green IT - paving the way for sustainable lifestyles: Speeches from practice and science illustrated the role of green IT in laying the foundations for sustainable lifestyles for instance in the transport and building sector.
 
Green IT beyond energy efficiency: Other presentations focused on how green IT can help to achieve energy efficiency in metropolitan and rural areas. Furthermore, good examples on how to achieve material and energy efficiency in IT infrastructure and data warehouses to develop real global opportunities were discussed.
 
Current best practices of co-operation in the public and private sector were likewise addressed.
 
UBA Green IT Conferencesare are opportunities to share state-of-the-art information, to learn more about sustainable solutions, and to meet and network.
